The latest groundswell of internet support for Detroit is from a company that has a huge stake in the city's rebirth: Ford. America's first automobile company is based in Dearborn, so the D's survival is a personal issue. As such, the marque released a YouTube video supporting the city's Summer X Games bid the only way it knows how -- by strapping Ford Racing's Andreas Eriksson into a Fiesta ST and putting rubber to road in the jaw-dropping cityscape.
Check out the killer RallyCross action in the video above, and imagine, for a moment, what it would be like to see this sort of driving at full-bore with a full field. Currently, Detroit is in the running with Chicago, Austin & Charlotte for the right to host the games, with results expected some time this summer. Keep your fingers crossed.
