Though it takes its name from a mythic box, the Pandora flexible laptop concept by designer Jeabyun Yeon is anything but clunky. The sleek device is the hypothetical spawn of a CAD-fueled orgy between a tablet, desktop, and laptop, offering three positions in which a user can interact with its 21.6″ touchscreen.
There’s widescreen, with the unit spread out at 180? for optimal movie-watching; laptop mode, with the screen bent at around 90? and a pop-up Tactus keyboard for typing; and tablet mode, with the joint bent to almost 360?.
The designer claims that the device could be manufactured at a 9mm width with high polymer & silicon materials. We hope some enterprising hardware firm takes Yeon up on the challenge.
What do you think — could Pandora be the future? Or does mobile computing’s destiny look more like this?
