‘Fresh Off the Boat with Eddie Huang: Back in Taiwan’ (Episode 3/3) [VIDEO]

“If there’s one thing to learn from Fresh Off the Boat, it’s that no culture is better or worse than another… it just is.”

For the final installment of Fresh Off the Boat’s ”Back to Taiwan” episode, Eddie Huang brings us to Old Town Taiwan to sample various recipes at the “Randal Cunningham” of Stinky Tofu restaurants (seriously, he says this, and we don’t really know what it means). After that, he receives a ba guan cupping treatment for his injured back, then enjoys a traditional tea ceremony that turns out to be more like a wine tasting than a trip to the Leaf & Bean.

Though this is by far the most somber and reserved of the FOB episodes to date, Eddie still adds just enough of his raw and oft-foulmouthed flavor to his dissection of Eastern/Western culture and ancient/modern food, medicine, and consumption to keep us enthralled.

What’s next for Eddie? His “Based FOB” snapback and Fresh Off the Boat book releases. You can peep him talk both projects in his recent interview with our friends at JackThreads, right here.

What’s next for this VICE series? Miami. Oh hell yes. ‘Til then, off to VICE‘s YouTube for more episodes.
