When asked at the Detroit Auto Show what the world should expect from Hyundai‘s category-busting Genesis model, the President & CEO of the Korean marque’s American division John Krafcik played it coy. The new Genesis would feel “more German”, he replied vaguely. Now that Motor Trend broke its coverage of the HCD-14 concept, we understand what he means.
Holy moly. Is this thing a Hyundai? The long, lithe HCD-14 sedan concept sports notched tail lights like an Infiniti G37 or Lexus is350 ; the sweeping hood & continuous panel-shaping of a Maserati Quattroporto; and a waterfall grille that looks more than a little like those that front Audi‘s entire line-up right now. Oh, and the rear doors are suicide. Damn.
No word on whether the Koreans will put this stupendous craft into production. Keep an eye on our Hyundai coverage for more.
