Insightful, highbrow observations follows gross, lowbrow humor in the most recent installment of VICE‘s webseries Fresh Off the Boat takes Eddie Huang back in Taiwan and the episode is a perfect microcosm of the series as a whole: Insightful, highbrow observations follows gross, lowbrow humor.

We begin the episode with Eddie gleefully pooping & showering at the same time, then end with him sharing a completely sober & serious discussion of the importance of Taiwanese state normalization with his dinner hosts.

Hilarity is punctuated throughout as Eddie loses his voice about two minutes into a session with two Taiwanese heavy metal singing coaches (yes, these apparently exist.) Said coaches miss translate the admittedly difficult English word “carrion,” and Eddie gets his face painted while sipping white wine and holding a pink heart pillow. Totally?
