Quick Listen: Classic, easy-going beats and razor-sharp wordplay give the mixtape an edge. Definitely a good sign from the Brooklyn collective.
Top Songs: “FA Rap Critic”; “Like Water”; “Resurrection of Real”; “K.I.N.G.S”
In anticipation of the End of Days, Joey Bada$$ and his Pro Era crew released Peep: The Aprocalypse on December 21st. Since we’re still standing, we finally got around to listening to the mixtape. Though it’s not quite world-ending, it’s damned good.
The 17-track effort pays a nice homage to Brooklyn’s rich rap history with simple beats, slick wordplay, and a flow that’s nothing short of wet. As one of the leading candidates to head up XXL‘s 2013 Freshmen Class, Mister Bada$$ is even rumored to be targeted by Roc Nation.
Tracks to check out: ”FA Rap Critic”, “Like Water”, “Resurrection of Real” and “K.I.N.G.S”
