Beautifully stitched from swaths of Scottish highlands & sections of city streets, Kith NYC‘s collaboration outerwear with Harris Tweed Fabrics & Goldenbear is a handsome solution to the conundrum of dressing for Thanksgiving bar-hopping. The collection is minute, with just three pieces, but each is damn-near perfect, with quilted, poly-filled linings, wool-banded waist hems, and cuffs sewn with leather patches to minimize fraying with wear. And all three pieces are made to order in the US by Goldenbear, a company that got its start outfitting longshoremen, and later, WWII dogfighting aces. Take a closer look:
The Harringbone Letterman Jacket ($460 USD) would be team-issue on Wes Anderson’s football roster. It’s a classic varsity with a torso of brown, handmade-in-Scotland tweed with running strands of rich orange & sky blue. The shawl collar and hem are banded wool/acrylic and match the tweed’s orange; sleeves are black leather.
The Plaid Baseball Jacket ($460) cuts a similar profile, but it eschews gridiron for diamond, with classic baseball stripes cut from snow-white leathers. The tweed is a double-windowpane of maroon & royal blue on a forest background.
A limited-edition vest ($350), with black banding and red leather details framing a rough tweed almost pinkish in hue, resembles something you might see in Harrison Ford’s closet in his American Graffiti days.
